On May 21, 2008, President Bush signed into law the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act. This law will protect against discrimination, based on an individual's genetic information, as it relates to health insurance coverage and employment settings. The Department of Labor has not made a formal statement regarding an update to the Equal Employment Opportunity poster reflecting this change. The effective date of this law as it relates to employment settings is unknown at this time.

FMLA Law Change

April 18, 2008: The period of time for submitting comments to The Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking under the FMLA has ended. The Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division is now going over all comments received between February 11, 2008 and April 11, 2008. Once all the comments have been reviewed the division will decide if any changes need to be made to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. The recent change to the Federal Medical Leave Act (FMLA) will require businesses to replace their existing federal posters.
